SIDC SOLAR BULLETIN 01 Feb 2005, 1223UT
SIDC FORECAST (valid from 1230UT, 01 Feb 2005 until 03 Feb 2005)
SOLAR FLARES : Quiet conditions (<50% probability of C-class flares)
GEOMAGNETISM : Quiet (A<20 and K<4)
SOLAR PROTONS : Quiet
PREDICTIONS FOR 01 Feb 2005 10CM FLUX: 086 / AP: 010
PREDICTIONS FOR 02 Feb 2005 10CM FLUX: 088 / AP: 007
PREDICTIONS FOR 03 Feb 2005 10CM FLUX: 086 / AP: 004

COMMENT: Solar activity has been very low over the past 24 hours. The
only flare since yesterday's forecast was a B2.6 from Catania sunspot
group 16 (NOAA 0729). This group has stopped growing, while the only
other sunspot group on the solar disk (Catania 16, NOAA 0727) is
decaying. There is only a small chance for a C-flare from either of
these two.

Following yesterday's rise in the solar wind speed, geomagnetic activity
briefly reached minor storm conditions round noon UT on Jan 31. By the
end of Jan 31, the solar wind speed started decreasing again and quiet
conditions returned. The earth is now moving out of the influence of the
coronal hole, so we expect solar wind speed to further decline and quiet
geomagnetic conditions.
