I haven't seen a PS/2 port on a Dell desktop product since shortly after
everyone switched from white to black plastic in 2000 or thereabouts. They
hung around on server products for a few additional years, presumably for
compatibility with KVM switches.

Not so ... there are dozens of newly introduced motherboards from
many of the top of the line board houses with PS/2 ports for keyboard
and/or mouse.
Perhaps the system builders (like HP, Dell, Lenovo, Toshiba, Sony,
etc.) are using boards that do not support PS/2 but they certainly
have not disappeared.
