Don't hold your breath waiting for the ARRL and its VUAC to implement this kind
of scoring. They think just came out with "new and improved" VHF contesting
rules that they think are great??? And we all know how long it took to get
those.

Distance scoring isn't going to make more folks happy with the scoring system
and it's not going to level the playing field. I can hear it now. A few remote
operators catch an e-skip opening into a high density metro area and rack up
lots of additional points. The whining follows from those who weren't so lucky.
Another senario would have some folks upset with those along the East Coast who
might catch a tropo opening. What are you going to do then? Let's see......how
about distance scoring based on which what part of the country you're in?
Divide it East/West into four section.......no, let's divide it
North/South...... It will go on and on. Why not just give it up and have fun?
Try competing against yourself.
