Yup. Built a similar circuit myself, before I was even licensed. No
batteries, and a SPDT switch to select the clipping level instead of pots.
I still use it whenever I put the headphones on.
As a bonus, it really helps us hear weak CW signals that are buried in the
noise. The clipping changes the CW sine wave to one rich in harmonics, and
does that ever help!
