Depends what you mean by "clean". In the two-way mobile radio industry,
transmitter and receiver designs for mobile radios and stationary remote
base/repeater radios are often virtually the same, with minor
differences, mostly differences in the packaging. So if the regulation
and noise bypassing is distributed throughout the radio, and designed to
work in a mobile environment, with alternator whine and unstable supply
voltage, then for stationary use it is not necessary to build a power
supply that is a lot better than typical DC automotive power.
