Well, the problem is now solved and the Orion is updated and
communicating with my computer. Thanks to everyone and their helpful
suggestions. Paul at Ten-Tec suggested that I disable all my virus
checking and firewall programs. Deleted the previous program and
download, re downloaded and installed, and the Orion accepted the
update! Evidently my anti-virus program (Norton) was somehow corrupting
the download file. A master reset after the download was processed
cleared up any additional quirks, and now the Orion is working great.
No problems with the upgrade after FINALLY getting it installed. The
stepping works fine.

Thanks again,

Jess, W8JY

Checked that, and it is correct. The com port will work with other
devices, and worked fine with the Orion until I tried the flash update.
The problem seems to be internal to the Orion. Guess I will have to
call Ten-Tec tomorrow and see if they have any ideas. Incidentally,
NONE of my 8 com ports will communicate with the Orion now.

Thanks,

Jess W8JY

This may be something to look at,

Try in the upate utility settings / setup to insure it is pointed to the

right com port.
