 Oh, it happens.  Often it happens in the IARU, when the IARU Zone not the CQ 
Zone is sent as part of the exchange, and some operators either don't know the 
difference or just mess up.
Copy what was sent.  If enough logs are submitted that shows, say, a California 
station sending the zone for New Zealand or Greenland, the contest organizers 
should recognize that the error (if any) is on the sending end, not the 
receiving, and act accordingly.
