Isn't the AnyDesk free client timing out?? Seeing more issues recently!
Starting to look at RustDesk!

Just to follow up on this one, I did an Anydesk session with Scott last
night, and after some experimentation, we discovered the problem.

Scott had done everything right.

It turns out he has three Elecraft K3 radios -- not K3s. They have
line-level audio in and out.
For some unknown reason, his mic audio was coming back on the line out when
transmitting, even with the Monitor turned all the way off.
If we took the audio out from the speaker vs line out, the problem went
away and Mumble works perfectly.

So -- either there is some weird K3 setting that causes this (and I've been
using them 20+ years and don't know about it), or there
is something astray in the I/O board of the K3. Anyway, we have a root
cause.

Anydesk audio is set to disable. Problem remains.

Yup. That is exactly the problem, Bob. I PM'd Scott.
Anydesk has its one-way audio ON by default, and it uses the default sound
card.
If the default sound card has the MIC audio on it, volia -- feedback.
Just go to the Anydesk control panel of the station, and unclick the blue
speaker icon, or
disable it permanently by going into settings and turning off audio.

Generally, Mumble has much better latency that Anydesk audio.
(Also, remember to turn off Echo Cancellation and Noise Suppression for
best
audio quality.)

BTW, If anyone is interested, I have public Murmur servers around the
world that are available for Amateur Radio use only.
These are geographically located for lowest latency.
na.audio.radiosport.network (Northeast US)
sa.audio.radiosport.network (South America, server in Miami)
eu.audio.radiosport.network (EU; server in DL)
asia.audio.radiosport.network (AS, in LAX)
arctic.audio.radiosport.network (in northern Canada)

More will be coming online.
The advantage of using a hosted mumble server is there is no need for
Static IP and can be used behind ipv6 and CGNAT, like Starlink or cell
phone service.

All servers are on the default port, snd the password is: Demo (case
sensitive)

If you want your own private mumble server, contact me.

Scott,

You may be hearing the audio that is transferred through AnyDesk itself.
Since you don't need it for the radios, turn the station PC audio volume to
zero or mute it and see if the echo goes away. There may be a setting
within AnyDesk that turns off the ability to transfer audio as well.

Good luck,

I'm working toward the remote operation of my station. I have my Mumble
server working, with a channel for each radio. At each operating position,
I connect the radio to the PC, and on that PC connect to Mumble as Rig-x,
and enter the channel Rig-x.

Remotely, I connect to the PC for Rig-x via AnyDesk, and also connect to
Mumble as W5WZ and enter the channel for Rig-x. I can hear the received
audio from the receiver on the Mumble channel. With vox enabled on my K3,
my spoken audio from the remote location via the Mumble channel does
properly key the transmitter.

BUT, the problem I am having is that my remotely spoken audio, while the
transmitter is keyed, is coming back into my ears via the Mumble channel
(causing me to babble!). Monitor function on the K3 is turned off.

I feel like I'm missing something very simple.

Does anyone have any thoughts?
