The problem I run into is that a few of the monitors I use in my shack/office
are at that awkward distance where neither "distance" nor "reading" lenses
really work, begging the use of progressive or trifocal lenses, or a third pair
of glasses (or, perhaps, rearranging the screens).

There is a brand of lenses out there where the manufacturer tweaks filtering of
different wavelengths of light for different activities. I'm not enough of a
visual connoisseur to appreciate the differences, but apparently some hardcore
enthusiasts of such activities swear by them.

One of the activities so-targeted is computer gaming. I did have the
opportunity to try a pair of glasses with such lenses, and I can confirm that
it was marginally easier to pick up subtleties on images displayed on a
monitor, and it seemed plausible to me that they might be a little more
comfortable for extended use. However, I'd be hard pressed to tell how/why
they might be better than regular lenses tinted to block a little blue light,
and I don't know that the optimization they were trying to achieve is really
that useful for contesting.

I used to be in the eyeglass profession.

This is NOTHING special. Contesting glasses are the same exact thing as Digital
TV Antennas. There are no such things.

Contesting Glasses are simply the exact same "readers" but with a strength
level that provides best focus at your desired distance.

I am wearing a pair right now! Keyboard and monitor as well as radio are at a
typical contesting distance. And are perfectly crisp. Without the glasses blur
blur blur.

DON'T BUY expensive ones either! Mine are like Baeofengs, I get mine at a local
grocery store. They have a display of like 100 glasses with all sorts of
various strengths.

Simply put one on and see how you can see at the desired distance. Adjust
strength as needed for best clarity.

Mine? cost $1.99  yeah 2 bucks.

One thing tho, These Cheap Glasses, or even the "Contesting" Glasses will NOT
help you if you have astigmatism.
If you have astigmatism, only a optometrist can design a pair of glasses for
your contesting needs. Because of the non Spherical curvatures that will be
needed in the lenses to fix the eyes astigmatism. You can not buy those off the
shelf from anywhere at any price.
