Check the cleanliness of the 4 pin Molex power connector on the back, check the fuse holder and fuse, and check the connection inside specially the neg black wire from the Molex. If any of these are loose or dirty then you may see some problems. While you are in there, be sure all the connectors are properly seated and the MP chip and ROM chip on the processor board are well seated. I have seen these problems with my rigs.

I've never really checked to see at what voltage the rig goes squirrelly. I keep 13.5 volts on mine. Same true for the Paragons.

Subject: [TenTec] Minimum Supply Voltage for Omni 6+

I just received an Omni 6+ that I bought on Ebay. It appears
to be working nominally, but the microprocessor flakes out
if I drop the input voltage below +13 VDC (measured at the
power input connector with a Fluke 179). The manual claims
it should work down to +12.0V, and in fact my Paragon 585
works down to something like +10.5V before it flakes out.
Is this a common/known problem with the Omni 6+, or is there
perhaps a problem with this particular rig. I'd like to be able
to run it off a battery, but as it stands, I don't think I can.

Thanks,

Mike, W4EF.............................................
