It is interesting to me that a couple of the big unlimited multi-op stations
have dropped back into the limited class in the last couple of years, citing
the poor return on the effort expended. One in the south, the other near the
east coast. And maybe some others I haven't noticed.

That implies that either there is very little activity (well of course there
is less than on 2 or 6!) or the added points still don't give them a chance
to beat W2SZ.

Each of us has our own ideas about the payoff for the higher bands but
aren't we really all here to stir up activity so that we don't lose our
allocations to some corporate suits? If reduced points for those bands
reduces the activity, I think we've gone the wrong direction.

Does anyone feel that giving extra points for 2.3G and up has out lived it's
usefulness? You can order a complete high quality transverter system from
DEMI or DB6NT and it's easier to work folks on 10GHz in the 10GHz contest
than trying to catch them on 2m!!! It just seems that adding another band
which automatically gives you more Q's and grids is enough of a bonus. When
getting on the microwaves required an engineering degree and $20K in test
equipment, I would agree but now it just seems a relic.

Thoughts?
