Malcolm's point may be valid in? Europe. In the states the VUCC card checker is
looking for a 4 Digit grid on the card to match with a list of 4 digit grids.
The important thing is to have the 4 digit gird (EM95) very visible on the
card. I've gotten some cards where it takes a long time to find the 4 digit
grid among the Ten-Ten numbers, club memberships, awards, ect.

Subject: Re: [VHFcontesting] VUCC Card Checking Question
The higher accuracy the better. In Europe 6 digit grid references are
required as a minimum for distance calculations for contest scoring. For
microwaves 8 digits helps aiming and improves the accuracy of the distance
calculation.. The greater the accuracy the less chance there is of the
checker
voiding
it for vagueness.
