The reason to log a DUPE is - while the other station might already be in
YOUR log - the previous QSO may not be in HIS log. If you don't log the
DUPE, you may loose the QSL completely.
At the HF M/M that I operate, the rule is to LOG ALL DUPES.

I haven't tried the VHF contest program by N3FJP, but we used his FD program
this year. One serious drawback of that program was that it would NOT let
you log a dupe. Other programs I've used (CT, TR, NA) would at least let
you log the dupe while notifying you it was a dupe QSO.
Does the VHF Contesting program do the same?
