Hi contesters,
What is going on with HSMS and WSJT in regards to ARRL contesting
rules. I guess it is OK, but I remember when the league would not count
a 1296 eme QSO with WB6IOM and a G station years ago because they did
not hear the signals in their headphones in real time. These guys
integrated their eme cw signals over a long period, and copied the
signals on a strip chart recorder. It was in real time, but I guess the
time period was too long, and they had to look at a paper trace to read
the cw, rather than copy with headphones.
So my question is " What does The League think of HSMS and WSJT,
where the same general situation is taking place." I am hearing that
people do not even want to run SSB skeds anymore. That's fine, but will
there be any question about these QSOs from the ARRL who just so happen,
process all the logs?
On another front, I plan to be real active on all the bands thru 24
GHz. All the setups are working well, and I would like to try contacting
anyone on the microwave bands above 1296. The typical situation is that
we run up the bands, and quit when we stop working each other. If we do
not QSO on 1296, that does not mean we cannot work on 2304 or 3456 for
that matter. Our 2304 station is at least as good as 1296, and 3456 and
up at times work better than 2304! So the point is don't assume that we
cannot work if one band is a "failure". Contact the station on a lower
band again and setup a try for the higher band again. You might be
surprised. I have been surprised several times lately!
I have a 36 watt solid state PA on 2304, and a 30 watt output solid
state PA at the antenna on 3456! Antennas are 29 dBi on 2304, 25+ dBi on
3456, 30 dBi on 5760, and 36 dBi on 10 GHz and about 40 dBi on 24 GHz.
We'll be on all night too, so skeds at 4 am would be much appreciated.
It'll keep us awake and busy!
See you on the 8th and 9th!
