I have 5 sections of 25G already in my possession. Three of them will
most likely be mounted next to the detached garage to provide support
for a 2m and 70cm beam, as well as the VHF/UHF vertical. The other two,
I am considering placing approximately 20ft. away from the HD21-50 with
part of the base in concrete. The idea is to use the 20ft. section as a
derrick with a pulley at top and a winch at the bottom. (Or, just
another pulley at the bottom and run line to the winch on my Suburban.)
when I need to lower or raise the tower, hook up the winch, and pull it
up. If I'm reading the drawings correctly, to lower the tower, I would
hook up the cable, pull the pin/bolt out of the leg closest to the
derrick, then use the winch to control the drop of the tower.
Theoretically, I'd be able to halt the tower short of crunching any
antennas and work on them from there, using a ladder.
