The LM-470 uses a 4:1 pulley system on the main lifting cable. Has two  
lifting cables on the next two sections.  Stainless is apprximately 10%  less 
in 
strength but still within the specs.
You can actually order stainless from Karl Tashjian and also 1/4" cable  
replacement kit for the LM-470. 
I make up my own cables and have done them both ways.
