Condx were a bit better early this morning here in Iowa. Actually heard
XZ0A come up on 1826.5 at 1150z, tune up, and start calling CQ. I had high
hopes that this might be the day!
Well, no such luck. Signals actually got weaker as the morning wore on
toward sunrise. By sunrise (1335z), I could not copy them at all. There
weren't many of us calling. . . maybe 3 or 4 at any given time and
sufficiently spread out. I did not hear them actually work anyone although
early on (abt1155z) he did come back with N5?? (and there was an N5 in there
calling).
A topband QSO will have to wait for another day. Antennas here are an
elevated quarter wave vertical with 580' 2-wire beverages running NE/SW and
SE/NW.
