Earliest possible top band operation 1100Z Jan 13, it may be 24 more hours
before the station is up to full performance.
LAST possible 0000Z Feb 07.. We MAY have to QRT top band by 0000Z Feb 06.
We PLAN to have a list of Top Band calls worked posted in some way. The
log for 160 must be manually transmitted by voice to our pilot station and
then transcribed. E mail & data circuits are not available on the island.
Presently planned transmit frequency is 1826.5 KHz.
Presuming that 1829 +/- is QUIET, we will listen there.
Generally, UP means up 2 to 2.5 KHz
We will only transmit OUR call when a QSO is finished, and we are ready for
the next QSO
Please try to stand by if the partial call does NOT match your call.
While we invite all stations to call this trip, if you have worked XZ1N,
please try to wait a few days and let some who have not get through.
We would appreciate it if Duplicate QSOs are kept to a minimum. We do NOT
need to know that the band is open to Europe each nite by working the same
stations over and over.
We SPECIFICALLY invite VE1ZZ, K1ZM, W4ZV, W8LRL to call whenever they hear
us for propagation information.
Operating time Sunset Local through Sunrise across Washington & B.C. is
reserved for North and South America, PLEASE.
That is about 11Z through 16Z
16Z + we will listen across the Pacific, and as soon as that is quiet, or
by 1645Z latest, we will QSX JA.
JA (QSX 1912 typical) for 1645Z thru about 19Z, activity dependent
19Z (or earlier if JA slow) thru 23Z SHARP - Asia-Europe all callers
At 23Z we will listen for North and South America & South Africa ONLY, NO
EU/AS callers PLEASE PLEASE!
Some portions of North and South America have a VERY few minutes of
potential opening time, generally right before 0000Z and after 11Z. Please
lets ALL try to let these folks get a chance at their few minutes.
The location for XZ0A is on a small island a LONG ways from any population
center, so we expect much improved receiving conditions over what we had at
XZ1N. Also, we are going "loaded for bear" with beverage materials,
filters, preamps, tuned splitters, EWEs to MAXimize our ability to hear,
short AND long paths.
