They have changed to the Softrock Ensemble III. These are available as kits for $67. You run them with HDSDR and these receivers use the sound card in your computer. A stock sound card will have a limit of 48 khz of spectrum which is actually enough. Again my software will talk to HDSDR and keep everything in sync.

OK Carl, I followed everything in the 2 most recent posts. TNX.

I don't care for the idea of Y-connector.
I have a 50 Ohm Splitter (-3dB) that I built while working in the lab for
Rhode und Schwarz.
I feel more comfortable using something like that than just tapping a 2nd RX
onto the same antenna line.
This maintains 50 Ohms at both outputs and assures both receiver see the
same signal level, albeit 3dB down from the input to the splitter.

And YES, indeed this is the mod that Jack implemented for me in the Omni
VII.
With the Omni VII, he did it BEFORE the unit went into production.
I tested it here in Europe before the radio announced.

When I first received my Eagle, it had none.
I called Jack and reminded him he had promised this in all new radios moving
forward.
He said "send it back", which I did a few days later, and he installed the
dual-jack on the back for me.
Of course this time the radio announced before the dual-jack mod so it ended
up being an add-on.

When I first attempt this, I would like to do it as cheap as possible
because I don't know if I really will want to use this or not. If I
determine it's a must have, then I will buy a more expensive RX. I suppose
the Softrock kit is the best (cheapest) route to go.

UNFORTUNATELY the SoftRock web site currently says "SOLD OUT".
Hmmmm.
Best laid plans...

Yes, my software does all the syncing. And this connection is fully
protected from transmit power.

Oh, you mean just tap into the antenna line as it runs through the RX.
Now that's a piece of cake.

But that is effectively just feeding the TX antenna out to another RX.
How do you sync the ext radio to be on the same band as the Eagle?
I guess your software talks to both and takes care of that...?

Rick,

You can just put a Y connector between the two preselector jacks and
run the third leg to a panadapter radio such as the Softrock Ensemble II.
This works great. My software will keep the softrock and Eagle on the
same frequency.

I was wanting to add a pan-adapter.
I may have to replace a board in order to do that.
My unit does not have the TMP jack with the 9 MHz out.

Also I have to find a way to run the signal out the back.
I already have two spare RCA Phono jacks in use for the pre-selector.

Are you going to add a panadapter ?

Is it just a tap, like perhaps a Y-connection, or does it also have

Unfortunately my Eagle fell out of the nest before that feature was
added
to the radio.
