Don,
In N1MM+ (and N1MM Classic), the Insert key sends both F5 and F2 in
succession, not just F2. The ; key, and the Enter key in ESM mode at that
point in the QSO, and the right mouse button ditto with the "right-click
sends Enter" option enabled, all work the same way as well - they send both
F5 and F2.
In principle, F5 contains just the other station's call sign, and F2
contains just the exchange without the call sign. If you want the end
result to be a newline, then the other station's call sign, then your
exchange, you should program your Run mode function keys along these lines:
F5 Hiscall,{TX}{ENTER} !{RX}
and
F2 Exch,{TX} {EXCH} {RX}
In S&P, ESM sends only F2 at that point in the QSO, so if you want to send
the CQing station's call sign back to him before the exchange, you would
program your S&P mode F2 function key to contain ! as well as the exchange,
unlike the Run mode keys.
