If you download W6EL's free and excellent HF propagation prediction program you
can print out heading maps and bearing to all the DX entities. It also shows
you the day/night terminator and LP/SP in real time on a great circle or
rectangular map. Here is the link to the download file:

If you look at the current global MUF map from Space Weather dot com at
http://www.spacew.com/www/realtime.gif you can get a pretty good idea of
whether the LP or SP propagation route is open. Often times you get LP and SP
propagation at the same time around the fall and spring equinoxes. You can
identify it by the echo.
