No, the client can't tell how well the AP is hearing him, he can only tell
how well he is hearing the client. Isn't there a signal level and noise level
indication at the AP to tell how he's receiving the client?
Amplifiers on the AP and not on the client are a typical way to make
this happen. Client hears the amplified AP just fine, but doesn't have the
power to get back equally.
