I agree. I consider myself a good op but have never had a station of my own
that is capable of winning anything. I generally contest because it is fun
and I may want to beat my previous scores, but not others'. I have
occasionally operated from a large contest superstation, and when doing so,
go by their rules.

I have done a lot of VHF+ contesting, either fixed portable or as a Rover.
I often find myself in a location where the nearest town is more than 10
miles away and also have no phone coverage, So no internet for me at those
locations.
