One of the top contesters out here, W6JTI, who regularly places at or
near the top of QRP, has no internet at his station. In CQWWCW, he was
#2 behind a K2 who had an easy path to EU mults and Qs. Frank is also a
member of our team that expeditions to activate remote 7QP counties,
where we have no internet. And in CQP, he's the guy who lights up
Humboldt County, always scoring higher than many 100W home stations.

I remember the days when it was considered risky business to be connected
to the Internet during a contest (potential to cheat, peeking at packet,
etc). Now we're insisting on it.
