I have an simple way of handling cut numbers in serial number fields. I
just don't log them. I am never going to turn in a top 10 score from my
apartment house station, so it is not worth the trouble and time to
translate. If I hear someone sending cut serial numbers I just tune past.
If I have already sent my exchange I just hit control-W to delete the Q
from my log. If their time is so important I don't want to slow them down
by asking for fills. So if I worked you in the 10 meter contest and you
sent me a cut serial number you are NIL. And I tuned past several stations
sending them, they won't miss my Q and a few will find a NIL in their log.
