Rob, it seems as though is not “if” but “ when” the choke craps out in those

amps. I’ve seen where many chokes shorted to the core and guys mounted the
choke on insulated material instead of getting a new one. Lou
As a retired broadcast engineer, if it arcs, isolating the choke is
classified as NOT a safe practice,
the safe procedure is to move the choke to the negative output of the
rectifier, between the two
capacitors if it is a π network. ("Pi" if the server and or your E-mail
client doesn't support symbols)
