[Xtreme-talk] Reactions on CQ-Contest

Hi, everyone -

It's been interesting to see the reaction to these new
categories...many favorable comments, but many other comments from
people who think that the creation of these new categories will
inspire people to begin integrating Internet connections with their
contesting. And that will be the end of radio contesting and amateur
radio in general.

Of course, the genie is out of the bottle, and people are already
usign many of the technologies we are allowing. And some are breaking
the existing rules by using some of these new technologies.

These categories are just a mechanism to allow the orderly adoption of
new technology into the sport. And to encourage people who are
experimenting and "what-if-ing" to compete under a comment set of
rules.
