Igor-

I use an SDR-IQ radio with CW Skimmer, fed with a 2-el 20m
yagi pointed 045 from San Diego during the day, and an omni-directional
active antenna (PA3DRT Mini-Whip) for 40m and 80m at night. I switch the
ANTs at dawn and dusk with a lamp timer and an old Dow-Key ANT relay
with a 110vac coil, and the skimmer with SkimScan software. [Email me and I will send you my draft
article for NCJ on ANT switching system for skimmer.]

A 045 heading on the yagi is all we need in San Diego to catch openings across NA and into EU. The 2-el yagi
has a 180 degree pattern so it is not a narrow beamwidth, but the extra gain in the 045 direction helps a lot.

I would like to know what is the collective wisdom regarding antenna for six
band Skimmer based around QS1R.  300m Beverege here brings super results on
80 and 160 meters. It also hears up to 10m band but not as well as we need.
What antennas do you, owners of skimmers, use now and what do you think
would be the best antenna (or antenna system) to use for this application.
