JIm, take a look at the information in this source: http://www.w8ji.com/balun_test.htm You will see what we all agree on, that the solenoid choke has almost non-existent pure resistance except on certain frequencies, and then it does not match the ferrite chokes but it is useable. As I have stated previously, they are not broad-banded. I use ferrite and solenoid common mode chokes pretty much as a last resort preferring other methods such as bypass caps and lots of radials on the ground, isolation transformers and link coupled tuners.
