I regularly run parallel line and insulated ladder line across a metal window sash at right angles, with no problems. But, I set a piece of pipe insulation under the sash bottom to provide an insualted feed thru point.

One side of pipe insulation is already slit, and it is simple to cut a slit in the other side for the line to pass and be held by gentle pressure of the window sash above. A window lock added to the side of the sash railing allows one to maintain security of the window. Stuff more pipe insulation between the panes of glass at the top of the partly raised sash to maintain a draft free window.

In dry weather, I have draped window line on bush limbs or tree limbs to take up excess line in FD installation, where I don't want to shorten the line. We tie off the line with a string to the limb above, or to a tent brace above where we route the line.
