Maybe the "A" model eliminated the purple fire. I just related my
experience.

I use it only for 80 mtrs when going to ssb portion of the band from where my antenna is tuned down on cw, and the same on 160 when going up in frequency above 1860. So maybe there would have been a problem with worse mismatches or otherbands? Don't know, since all the other antennas here are ok over the wholeband without the transmatch. 73, Tim - N3XX----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Hyder -N4NT-" <Mike_N4NT@charter.net>To: "Discussion of Ten-Tec Equipment" <tentec@contesting.com> Sent: Monday, November 01, 2010 9:47 AM Subject: Re: [TenTec] TunersWhatever you do, avoid getting an old Murch Ultimate Transmatch UT-2000 unless you like a tuner box full of purple fire.73, Mike N4NT |
