Oh, there will be some degree of coupling. Maybe some 60 dB or so isolation
but even then with this much isolation, one is likely to hear signals from
one to the other.
If you believe that one S unit is some 6 dB and the signal on ANT 1 is S-9
+20 dB then the signal on ANT 2 is likely to be (54dB + 20dB)- 60dB or 14 dB
or approximately two S units. The Orion is very capable of copying a S-2
signal. Now, if ANT 2 is terminated into say 50 ohms the isolation between
the two is quite different.
There will be some degree of coupling between the two. Usually it is in the
60 dB range and is then generally of no concern or problem.

Duane....please explain a tad more. As I mentioned, I can switch from
ANT1
on the front panel to ANT2 on the front panel while having the only
antenna
on ANT1 on the rear panel. When switching between ANT1 and ANT2 on the
front panel I can hear in both positions. The other three responses I
have
received cannot. I don't believe there should be any coupling between the
two switch positions.

I can do the same with only the ground side of the antenna connected at
the
238B antenna tuner. The Orion has a lot of gain, and often I can copy
signals with nothing connected to the antenna port at all.

Hi folks.....
Can someone please see if they have ANY coupling when between ANT1 and
ANT2
positions on the FRONT panel?
I find that with only one antenna, connected only to the rear panel ANT1
SO
239, I can read signals in either the ANT1 or ANT2 front panel positions.
Obviously, the signal is MUCH stronger when front panel is set for ANT1.
But, I can still fully copy the signal when using front panel position
ANT2.
What do you find, please?
Thanks much for any help.........
