My two centalvo's...

I find the NR on the Orion V2.059 to work very well. It does an effective job of acting like a sort of squelch for SSB and I like the fact that there aren't alot of artifacts in the process. I didn't like the V1.372 NR function as it created a ton of artifacts reminiscent of an outboard DSP device like the NIR-10 and the "Hear It" speaker devices. Kind of an underwater sound...

The hardware noise blanker is also quite effective on pulse noises. I have however found the DSP "side" of the NB to be totally ineffective. I have never found a situation where it makes any difference or improvement.

Hope this helps.
