CP - including one involving a member of the contesting community who
got cold-cocked because he refused a request for a cigarette.

District) where the shooting took place is not a bad area. In fact I
think the restaurants and bars in that area are more upscale. There is
a very nice Thai restaurant (Thai 9) innear that area where K9PG and
his friends go to every year during the Hamvention.
That area of downtown is probably safer when compared to any other
major city in the US. What happened in Dayton was bad but it could
have happened anywhere .

Well that was fast.
That's never stopped me though; every year, for the last 5 years,
I've gotten in by sniping cancellations, especially the week and even
the day before hamvention. It might also help to have IHG points and
status (which my wife and I obtained after churning a few IHG credit
cards). I'll betcha this year is no different.
If all else fails, there's a few nice AirBNBs near downtown within
walking
(stumbling) distance. :)
