Yes, this has been reported by several people here on the reflector. I also
experience this once in a while when I'm stressing the software with my
testing on various PCs. THE SOLUTION THAT HAS ALWAYS WORKED FOR ME IS TO:

1. CLOSE WRITELOG.
2. OPEN WRITELOG.INI WITH A TEXT EDITOR. (WRITELOG.INI IS IN THE WINDOWS
DIRECTORY ON XP AND EARLIER. ON VISTA AND LATER, USE THE LINK TO
WRITELOG.INI ON THE WRITELOG MENU IN YOUR PROGRAMS MENU FROM THE WINDOWS
START BUTTON.)
3. FIND ALL [Rttyrite...] SECTIONS AND DELETE THEM SAVE WRITELOG.INI AND
EXIT THE TEXT EDITOR.
4. OPEN WRITELOG AND SETUP YOUR RTTYRITE WINDOW(S) AGAIN.

NOTE: DON AND I SUSPECT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON TO VISTA/WINDOWS 7/WINDOWS 8
SYSTEMS THAT USE THE VIRTUALSTORE. IT WOULD HELP US TRACK DOWN THE PROBLEM
IF THIS IS TRUE. HAS ANYONE HAD THE FREEZE ISSUE ON WINDOWS XP (OR EARLIER
OS)?

I ALSO SUSPECT IT MAY ONLY HAPPEN WHEN YOU START WRITELOG THE FIRST TIME
AFTER AN INSTALL OR UPGRADE. PLEASE ALSO CONFIRM OR DENY THIS?

Sorry for the caps. I don't mean to shout, but several of us have posted
this advice many times in the last four days and it doesn't seem to be
noticed. ;>)

Upgrading to 11.10G should require nothing unless you incur the freezing
problem. MMTTY with the MMTTY Plug-In will continue to work without change.
Make sure 'MMTTY' is checked on the Rttyrite TNC menu. Do not use the
XMMT.ocx menu choice if you want to use the MMTTY Plug-In.

I assume your OS is Vista or later since you mention VirtualStore. If I
understand the description of your actions and problems, it sounds like you
did not delete the [Rttyrite...] sections in writelog.ini after you got the
freeze. I understand you deleted the entire writelog.ini. That's not the
same thing, so please try the instructions above when you encounter the
freeze. Your goal, after a freeze, is to edit the working writelog.ini
file, not delete it. Deleting it probably means that WriteLog reverts to
initializing with the default writelog.ini file stored in Windows in an
earlier installation.

I'm also a bit nervous about multiple installations of WriteLog in different
directories. I don't know how the Registry and VirtualStore behave in that
case. If it were me, I'd uninstall all of them and only have one on the
computer at a time.

I haven't heard this and I would relegate this to a last resort and only if
you get clear instructions from someone really understands what to do. For
me, the only person I'd trust is W5XD.
