I have used it both ways - with one LPT and the A/B to switch a relay which
changes the PTT and S CW from the Writelog LPT1 port. However with the
Icoms, I can do the radio control via a CT-17 (pins 2,3 and ground) and use
pin 4 for PTT and pin 20 for CW all in one - five wire cable - one for each
radio. Since the Icoms give out the band data I don't need to fool with the
LPT1 pins for these so cabling is very easy. I have the PTT lines going to
a "Y" interface into the mic input with the other "OR" input being the Heil
PTT switch I use in SSB.
Seems pretty easy for me and avoids using Com1,Com2 LPT1 and LPT2 for the
same function. I have to use COM1 and Com2 anyway for the Icoms so why not
piggy back on the ports with the other functions?
My choise - There are lots of ways to make Writelog work with SO2R.
P.S. - Just got DXtelnet interfaced via internet and cable modem - who is
that neat! Have it feeding both DX4WIN and Writelog - now about that second
monitor.......
