There is no human copying data, but a human still has to press "Log" :) There
have been multiple articles about why NIL rates are worse with FT8, it is a
known problem. One problem is that some people insist on receiving the last
sequence message. If it is wiped out (common on a busy band like 6m), then they
won't log you, even if it was obvious that you worked them because you moved on
to working the next caller. Other times I think people just forget to hit the
"Log" button.

I checked my LCR for the June VHF contest. All of the NILs are 6m digital. And
they are all missing from the other log, so they were correctly flagged. So I
don't think there is a problem with ARRL's log checking.

Thanks to those that have replied.

I did not know the LCR was available on the ARRL contest page.  As many
times as I've been on that site I never had a reason to click that link.
Now that I know, I will be checking it when I have the need.    On a quick
check tonight,  I found that nearly every "Not-In-Log" (99%+) over many
contests are digital contacts.  That very suspect as there is no human in
coping the data to make a mistake and the few I checked are in my WSJT-X log
data.    This irritates me even more than I was before.  In one case I was
shorted close to 10k points for NIL that included unique multipliers as well
as the contacts.  In that case every NIL was a digital contact.  This puts
me in agreement with AA5AM, believing whatever the ARRL is using to score
the contests and comparing logs is flawed.

Maybe it's just me, but I am starting to be irritated by the ARRL scoring of
logs submitted for the VHF contests.  Several times in the past 2 years or
so, my final score posted has bee lower that what was submitted as "claimed"
score.  For the past September contest results just posted my score is
shown almost 5000 points below what I submitted.  This would not concern me
if we were still back in the day of paper logs and multi-page cross matrix
dupe sheets, but I pay for and use logging software that tracks and flags
dupes as well as maintaining a running and final score.  The score I submit
should be no different that what is posted in the results, minus some
minimal amount for fat fingering incorrect callsigns and grids into the
logging software.

There, I said it.  And it didn't help.  I'm still irritated.
