Hi Herb, I remember Terry, W8ZN, talking about guys who were swapping out the
motor(s?) in HD73 rotors to 12v DC ones. I couldn't see going to the trouble
since inverters are pretty cheap and a 110vac rotor capable of turning a few
rover antennas doesn't draw much current!. That said, I always used a 2200 watt
Honda inverter generator when I roved. Brought a hefty 12v power supply and a
28 volt one some times to run all the rigs, amps, relays etc. and that was it.
Of course I couldn't operate while in motion, but that was never my intent.
