Hello ladies and gentlemen,
Believe it or not, the contest is less than three days away!
By now, you've brushed off or vacuumed dust including electrocuted and/or fried
remains of insects and arachnids from inter surfaces your precious 222 and up
gear. After big switches thrown, wheezing amplifier's blower coughed up rising
plumes of months long accumulated pumice and ash followed by longing moans of
fresh air from recent cold fronts that swept through much of our area in recent
days. Oh yeah! This means that the weather is going to be awesome for spending
time on the radio comfortably without the stifling moisture ladened venusian
atmosphere bearing down on us curious creatures for months on end. Currently,
it smells and feels like fall!
This should bring out all kinds of juicy stuff out of the woodwork, such as a
decked out rover, hiker packed with gear for a mountain top excursion, portable
station at a rental, joining a buddy or two for a multiop effort, or a scenic
drive to an high overlook using FM transceiver on simplex. Think about how
rewarding and infectious it would be for everyone if we decide to take part in
one way another.
222 and Up contest has been on a sharp decline in recent years and it appears
there's hasn't been any attention to curb this trend. This is a perfect
opportunity to reverse this for the better in a big way by ourselves! Please
spread the word to encourage others to get on the bands and say hello to
everyone, just like in the good old days. Most importantly, have fun!73,Peter
