Not a bad choice.  One of the questions I had when I was shopping for my
first radio was about how often are new radios released.  Even high-end
electronics tend to get obsoleted on yearly basis, so it was a bit of a
shock that commercially produced rigs stick around for so long.  Don't get
me wrong, I think this is great for multiple reasons.  It just means that
new hams need to be told that it's ok to get something made more than 20
years ago.
