As mentioned Its NOT BY LAW in Canada..eh…..We can operate SSB on 144.010 if we
want to.
In Canada we are bandwidth restricted ONLY and the RAC Bandplan is essentially
the genltleman’s agreement
to keep everything in ‘order” on both sides of our very long border…. as well
as up here…

Having said that, there is some potential for the “Digital” sub band
utilization above 144.3, however
the bandplan has not been updated for quite some time so the focus at the time
was on FM type digital stuff like APRS etc.
We should see what level of activity actually exists up there before
considering 144.313…
Perhaps terrestrial JT will disappear shortly as it is disappearing on 50 Mhz…
replaced by FT8 and MSK144….
so we can essentiall “re cycle” those frequencies below 144.2 for now… given
that FT8 is a "narrow band “ mode should not be a problem
I would suggest NOT getting too close to 144.2 as during contests operations
tend to spread up and down from 200 on SSB and CW.
Lots of activity on 144.180 SSB here in the east during contests so keep the
digital stuff much lower…

It has to be above 144.100 by law.

Hi everyone, just wondering wich frequencies should we use for FT8 on 2m?
CQ WW VHF is coming and FT8 could be useful when USB voice just don't make it
(in last ARRL June VHF, happen a few time when I hear someone but he was not
hearing me and vice-versa) So... 144.079 perhaps?
