That's why we work people up the bands. In the VHF contests I usually
start out on 144. "Have you got any other bands?" We already have our
antennas close to optimum on that band, so working through the bands is
easier. Aiming can be fine-tuned on 903 or 1296. That makes 2304, etc.
esaier. In the UHF contest, 432 is the band of choice to initiate QSO's
in this area. My 432 beam is sharper than my 144 beam, so I'm even closer
to optimum aiming for the bands 903 and above.
