Hi Bill,

Thanks for all the contest Qs from W4, KH6 & V31 (etc.)

For ease of setup, I am also partial to a very efficient mobile antenna. My
go-to and best mobile antenna I have ever used over the last 45+ yrs is a
Scorpion SA-680S (see my qrz.com page or their home page
https://www.scorpionantennas.com/

(no affiliation. Just a happy customer.)

Mine has an electric fold over mount, so I never even need to leave the car
to setup the antenna.

I think Ab2E/Darrell mentioned the KJ7U line of antennas which I am sure are
pretty good as well, no doubt equaling (or at least vy similar to) the
Scorpion. With mobile antennas, you pretty much get what you pay for. An
example, is, the last time I bought a better antenna (SA-680S) I left my
Diamond SD-330 on the car and put an A-B coax switch in line. I often saw a
20dB increase using the SA-680S, so don't expect great results with tiny
antenna, hi hi.

I have even done 160m/M with this antenna, but I had to temporarily mod it
with a larger cap hat.

As has been mentioned, we realize your sight is not the best, so I would
suggest some kind of turbo tuner (or similar) with presets which will take
you back exactly to the height you need the antenna at. Personally I don't
need it, because I tune by first listening to the noise level rise
significantly (& peak) on the RX and then because my sight is still pretty
good, tweak ever so slightly by watching an SWR meter.

Good luck in whatever you decide. Nice to see you still in the game!
