I use the Hy-Gain end caps that Mike described below and wrap them with Scotch
33 tape to slow down the process of UV degradation. I have seen some end caps
that were in service for many years and the tape seemed to do a good job
protecting the end caps.

The "rope" used by Hy-Gain is 5/32" polypropolene ...

Manuals for the 204BA, 205CA, 155CA, 105CA, LP-1009A,
LP-1010A, TH5D, TH7DX, TH11DX, EXP-14, VB-64DX  and
VB-66DX manuals in my file all call for rope in elements
(monoband elements for TH5/TH7/TH11/EXP-14).

I do not have manuals for the 203BA, 153BA and 103BA so
I have not checked them but suspect they also call for
rope dampers as the element construction is the same
as the bigger antennas.  All of the Hy-Gain element tips
are 7/16"
