Bob is right about stainless.
My yagis, erected in 2001 just got a thorough inspection. All of the
all-stainless clamps about 20 on each antenna were in perfect shape.
Plated hardware? Meh.
That's my experience. Have built all my antennas since 1963.
Others may disagree.

Why would the screw clamp have any effect on the elements braking? The
parts website seems to indicate that HyGain uses 0.028" wall thickness on
their 20m element tips.

Did you use the stock Hygain screw clamps at the end of the telescoping
elements or did you use stainless steel hoseclamps like I do?
