Most munincipalities and permitting organizations are MUCH more
stringent these days because of a (possibly unjustified) fear of
litigation.
There are many things one could have done without a care in the world
20,30, 40 years ago that you cannot do today.
Towers come along for the ride.
I have no idea whether anything has changed since I asked 11 years ago,
but then the Bldg. Dept. people at Holland Charter Township (Ottawa
County, Michigan) told me that their lawyers had said, "That's FCC
territory; we're not messing with *them*" (or words to that effect).
70ft height limit; standard set-back rules.
