You are missing the main point. Selling access to your station is not a
communication under 97.113.

Not at all.
When transmitting on a rented station, "the station" with specified location is
under the license of the owner. You can use your call, but the station is
licensed to him, thus "operating" he is letting you operate his station for
money.
"IF" it is done in such a manner that the station is listed with the FCC as
your station, then it'd be legal, hence "remote stations"
This is entirely different than selling your station. I'd assume you could
sell a station including the site and the new owner could operate from that site
It's seems as if any DX or contesting from anothers station would have to list
the stations license which is specific to the site. If you visit a station and
use your call, it's still his station.
I have a feeling, contest and awards committees will take this into
consideration.
It would be interesting as to how they view it.
