Do NOT buy a KT34XA or KT34A used, unless you want to put a lot of time
into refurbishing it. THe old KT34XAs are excellent performers, but the
design lends itself to oxidation at critical points. When you buy the beam
you
would need to clean all connections etc and possibly replace the plastic
end caps on the cap tubes. Having assembled a few KT34XAs I can tell you
you really don't want to go that route....a royal PITA.
Now, if you can get a used KT36XA, do it in a heartbeat. This updated
version made by M2 addresses the the problems associated with the old KT34XA.
I've had my three high stack of KT36XAs up for 18 months. They are solid
performers.
