If you haven't caught the Nova series called "Making Stuff" it is an
absolute must see to truly get a tiny window into science we never
got to see in the way they portray it. Making stuff cleaner,
stronger, smarter, smaller, faster, colder & wilder are the ones I
can think of at the top of my head that I've seen.

The most boggling to me was "making stuff colder" as in what happens
to sub atomic particles and the properties of molecules when the
temperature is a millionth of a degree from absolute zero Kelvin.
Especially the computational power of a tiny chip at that
temperature. They show a huge building that's sole purpose is to get
the temperature down to those kinds of low temperatures to run a
postage sized computer processor. Google and Nasa have hired it for
their work. You owe it to yourself to see these whenever they are
coming up.

Nova is amazing. The above are out on DVD except the last three if I
remember correctly; they have been shown but the DVDs for those won't
be out till January 2014

Good luck to all of us in the contest, I hope the Amtrak RFI stays
low, I'm 75-100 feet from the 25KV lines and the arcing has started
now that its gotten colder.
