Hello Herb,

I have encountered many similar occasions in contest where the station 
also had a 'difficult' call. In order to maintain their qso speed such 
stations would add a tiny space between the critical parts of their call.
In your case you  could send: KV (almost 1 space) 4FZ.  That puts more 
emphasis on the difference between the V and the 4 in the human brain 
and offers better distinction. At least for me such an approach works fb!
